Sponsorship

HARIBO & The London Towers Basketball Team

HARIBO’s involvement with basketball began in 1999 with its sponsorship of the London Towers basketball team.

The team became known as ‘The HARIBO London Towers’ and their high profile and huge following amongst families ensured a great deal of coverage for the HARIBO brand.

The HARIBO London Towers team had an extremely strong youth commitment, - visiting between 400 – 600 schools every year introducing basketball and teaching skills to children throughout the UK. This commitment to youth and education was very much in line with HARIBO’s own philosophy.

The team were highly successful too, winning many titles including the Budweiser Championship in 1999 and the Southern Conference Championship and Uni-ball trophy in 2000.

MAOAM & Sale Sharks

In 2002, one of the most successful Rugby Union Clubs in the UK, ‘The Sale Sharks’, teamed up with HARIBO & MAOAM.

The sponsorship took various forms, with the player’s shirts and shorts branded with MAOAM logos – as well as the stadium roof at the Sale Shark’s ground and banners and boards around the pitch. In addition, our special MAOAM Cheerleaders outfits raised our presence still further, due to their eye-catching design and the professionalism of the cheerleaders.

Since it began, the deal has meant excellent national and international TV & Press Coverage for MAOAM, with highlights and live coverage of forthcoming matches shown on BBC, Eurosport and Sky Sports.

HARIBO sponsors James Pickford

In 2003 HARIBO embarked on a new and exciting sponsorship deal with the young racing driver from Macclesfield, James Pickford.

James was already a double National Kart champion, double formula Honda champion and McLaren Autosport Young Driver of the Year – and his success has certainly continued during HARIBO’s sponsorship. – In 2004, the 25 year-old rounded off a brilliant season-long performance by winning the 2004 Holiday Inn Seat Cupra Championship. He became Britain’s newest professional racing driver and joined the 2005 SEAT Sport UK British Touring Car Championship team.

After taking the 2004 title in his HARIBO Leon Cupra R. Car, James said “I’m a mixture of emotions – happiness because I’ve won the biggest prize in British motorsport and I’m a professional touring car driver and relief because it’s all over! My dream in life is to get paid for racing motorcars and that’s exactly what I will be doing next year. I’m really looking forward to it.”

James’ success has in turn led to even more coverage for HARIBO UK with a great deal of exposure on TV and in the press. Many linked promotions and competitions have also appeared in the trade and consumer press, offering HARIBO consumers and retailers the chance to win among other things: VIP tickets to the SEAT Cupra Championship, Seat merchandise and off course a Seat Ibiza FR Car featured on Starmix 175g bags.
