Reporting to the Head of Operations, the R&D Technician is responsible for interfacing between Portfolio Management, creating new molds and trial runs. This two-year assignment is to support the vertical startup of the new Pleasant Prairie facility. Other responsibilities include coordinating and assisting Production in new product and packaging material trials. Maintenance of Nozzle Plates, Programming Rails and Stamping Boards. Provide analysis, insight, and recommendations. Provide technical support to Production, resolving problems with a focus on continuous improvement. This position participates on project teams and conducts technical work within guidelines of project scope, budget, and timelines. The R&D Technician will partner with support functions to identify and resolve unplanned inefficiencies, events, quality, safety, cost, and other losses attributed to the area, using problem solving techniques and a continuous improvement mindset.
Responsible for interfacing between Portfolio Management, creating new molds and trial runs.
Coordinate and assist Production in new product and packaging material trials and initial start-up runs, assists in the generation of formal test protocols and reports.
Maintenance of Nozzle Plates, Programming Rails and Stamping Boards.
Provide technical support to Production including problem solving and continuous improvement.
Provide proactive Safety leadership for the line(s), ensuring behavioral based observations and accident and incident reports are completed, including near misses.
Review findings and identify root causes & ensure corrective actions are completed, coaching, and holding accountable associates that are not in compliance with the goal of being proactive in preventing any accidents in the Plant.
Take necessary corrective actions and inform the line manager in times of deviation from our quality and efficiency standards, ensuring integrity and transparency in our operations.
Builds relationships with teammates and colleagues so that coaching efforts are received in a positive and developmental manner.
Conducts inspection of and routine preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
Communicates pertinent information to next shift.
Maintain a clean work area and follows sanitation standards set forth by Quality Department, HACCP, GMP, FSSC and other standards.

High School Diploma or GED Required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 Years of Manufacturing Experience preferred in a HARIBO manufacturing facility.
Supervisory or management experience is preferred.
Computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, SAP) systems preferred.
Excellent Communication Skills (Verbal and Written).
Excellent Time Management Skills.
Able to successfully coordinate with other functions to ensure project success.
Basic knowledge of Industrial Maintenance and manufacturing equipment.
Demonstrated Project Management skills.
Possess a basic Financial Understanding to ensure results are delivered. Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills.
Able to differentiate types of problems to ensure proper maintenance support.
TPM and/or Lean manufacturing experience is preferred.
Strong decision-making, problem solving, and organizational skills are required.
Ability to lead, develop, direct, and hold others accountable
Must be flexible with work scheduling as well as overtime.
Requires basic mathematical skills to be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide, work with percentages, and have basic knowledge of algebra as well as make fine adjustments in equipment settings.
Requires the ability to train and coach others for success.
Requires the development of a working knowledge of food safety and food quality standards and regulations such as SQF and environmental safety regulations along with a commitment to continuous improvement.
Able to stand for long time periods to monitor production process and lift up to 50 pounds.
