BDE Technician

Reporting to the Controls Automation Engineer, the BDE Technician is responsible for updating, troubleshooting issues, and keeping data collection and reporting systems fully operational. This two-year assignment is to support the vertical startup of the new Pleasant Prairie facility. The BDE hardware and software solutions are consistently adapted to production conditions, in line with Industry 4.0 and Smart Factory. This position is also responsible for updating and maintaining the system controlling all Automatic Vehicles in the facility. Developing, generating, and analyzing data to understand constraints, causes of breakdown and potential solutions is another important responsibility. Ensuring alignment and proper interphase with SAP is critical. The BDE Technician supports our fully automated, manufacturing 2.0 production facility. The BDE Technician will partner with support functions to identify and resolve unplanned inefficiencies, events, quality, safety, cost, and other losses attributed to the area, using problem solving techniques and a continuous improvement mindset.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop/design and support of the MDE / BDE, RFID and Automated Vehicle systems.

Collect, analyze, and utilize master data (e.g. machine data, performance indicators und bonus values)

Administration and governance of data.

Support and provide input to improve the product recall process and procedures.

Manage requests to return or exchange a product recall.

Support, train, and advise the Director of Production and the Director of Portfolio Activity Management in production data acquisition systems MDE/BDE/RFID.

Plan and provide trainings for ​​MDE / BDE / RFID systems.

Update, troubleshoot and maintain the system controlling all Automatic Vehicles in the factory.

Design new processes and structure production/new product development and packaging into more efficient organization.

Administration of automated production control systems.

Prepare production reports.

Process and control of machine data records.

Create a workflow-based master data platform for the implementation and maintenance of SAP S/4HANA

Builds relationships with teammates and colleagues so that coaching efforts are received in a positive and developmental manner.

Provide proactive Safety leadership for the line(s), ensuring behavioral-based observations and accident and incident reports are completed, including near misses.

Review findings and identify root causes & ensure corrective actions are completed, coaching, and holding accountable associates that are not in compliance with the goal of proactively preventing any accidents in the Plant.

Take necessary corrective actions and inform the line manager in times of deviation from our quality and efficiency standards, ensuring integrity and transparency in our operations.

Conducts inspection of and routine preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.

Communicates pertinent information to next shift.

Ability to handle stress and to interact with others to establish and maintain a positive and productive work environment and minimize personal conflicts.

Maintain a clean work area and follows sanitation standards set forth by Quality Department, HACCP, GMP, FSSC and other standards.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED Required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Minimum of 5 Years of Manufacturing Experience preferred in a HARIBO manufacturing facility.

Computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, SAP) systems preferred.

Excellent Communication Skills (Verbal and Written).

Good understanding of PLCs and data networks highly desirable.

Experience with data acquisition and analysis.

Excellent Time Management Skills.

Able to successfully coordinate with other functions to ensure project success.

Basic knowledge of Industrial Automation and Control equipment.

Demonstrated Project Management skills.

Possess a basic Financial Understanding to ensure results are delivered. Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills.

Able to differentiate types of problems to ensure proper maintenance support.

TPM and/or Lean manufacturing experience is preferred.

Strong decision-making, problem solving, and organizational skills are required.

Must be flexible with work scheduling as well as overtime.

Requires the ability to train and coach others for success.

Requires the development of a working knowledge of food safety and food quality standards and regulations such as SQF and environmental safety regulations along with a commitment to continuous improvement.

Requires teamwork ability; works well with others and communicates effectively with all associates.

Ability to work efficiently and safely.

Ability to work in hot environments with loud noises.

Able to stand for long time periods to monitor the production process and lift up to 50 pounds.
