Sr. Manager, Sales - Alternative & Specialty Channels
Start: immediately in Rosemont, Illinois OR Remote / United States
The Sr. Manager – Sales –Alternative & Specialty Channels is responsible for driving sales performance, market share, and brand representation of HARIBO of America throughout the Alternative and Specialty retail channels of trade that include off-price retailers such as Ross & Burlington and specialty channels and unattended retail & vending. Reporting up to the Sr Director of Sales -Convenience & Alternative Channels, the Sr. Manager – Sales – Alternative & Specialty Channels this role will directly manage select accounts (For example - off-price retailers such as Ross & Burlington), provide strategies and direction for assigned channel and team, as well as manage a small team of National Account Managers and/or Business Development Managers who are responsible for other customers within the off-price, specialty, alternative, and vending channels.
The Sr. Manager – Sales – Alternative & Specialty Channels is a remote/field based position that will require travel up to 40% of the time annually, nation-wide, with overnight stays. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years strategic sales account management experience within the CPG / Consumer Packaged Goods industry and prior experience specifically within candy/confectionery, or salty snack products. Additionally, a Bachelor’s Degree and extensive experience with data driven insights through syndicated sales data to include IRI, Circana, Neilsen, and other related syndicated data sources and deep understanding of trade management / trade promotion management. Responsibilities:
- Own, manage, and develop strong customer relations with assigned accounts ( for example: Ross, Burlington)
- Develop and execute strategies for this channel of business; drive a customer centric, high accountability culture that supports appropriate risk taking and decision making from the team.
- Manage, direct, coach, mentor, and develop a small team of experienced National Account Managers who directly manage other accounts within the alternative, off-price, and specialty/vending channels
- Manage and direct third party brokers
- Lead process for managing trade spend, trade promotion management, in collaboration with trade marketing department and finance department by measuring and enforcing trade terms and identifying opportunities for improvement through management of internal TPM system
- Create and executive joint business plans
- Utilize data and turn insights into action
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years of strategic sales account management experience within the CPG / Consumer Packaged Goods industry
- Prior experience specifically within the candy, confectionery, or snack industry
- Experience managing trade spend - both working and non-working trade
- Prior HQ calls experience, calling on corporate decision makers
- This is a remote, field based position that required the ability to travel up to 40% of the time annually, nation-wide, with overnight stays
- Live within a reasonable distance of a major airport
Preferred Qualifications:
- 7+ years strategic sales account management experience within the CPG / Consumer Packaged Goods industry
- Prior experience within the candy, confectionery, or salty snack industry is strongly preferred
- Prior experience calling on off-price retailers (example: Ross, Burlington)
- Prior experience calling on alternative and specialty channels, unattended retail and vending channels
- Prior experience managing brokers
- Prior people leadership, people management experience- coaching, directing, developing direct reports
Skills:
- Deep expertise with utilizing and analyzing syndicated data to include IRI, Circana, Neilsen, and/or other forms of syndicated sales data
- Demonstrated ability to “tell a story with data” and drive data-based insights and decision making
- Deep understanding of trade management / trade promotion management
- Demonstrated success in business negotiations
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Compensation and Benefits
Target Hiring Pay Range: $160,000 - $200,000 annually
This pay range represents the min/max target annual base salary range HARIBO of America, Inc. may pay for this position at the time of this posting. Please note, a candidate’s offered annual salary will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate's relevant education, experience, qualifications, skills, internal equity, and the geographical location of the role.
