HARIBO Sponsors Martin House’s THE BUILD campaign

The biggest fundraising challenge that Martin House has ever undertaken is now well underway. You can see some of the work HARIBO has done with Martin House during the first few months of The BUILD!

As a longstanding partner of Martin House Children’s Hospice for over 15 years, over the last few months the HARIBO team has been supporting the charity with its biggest fundraiser yet: THE BUILD.

As part of this challenge, a host of events and initiatives that have been organised by Martin House over an 18-month period will aim to help them raise £2 million towards its £21.9 million project that will transform the hospice and allow them to continue providing first in class care to those most in need for the near future and beyond.

The work that Martin House do in Yorkshire is crucial in supporting children and young people with life-shortening conditions along with their families. Advances in medicine mean children and young people with such conditions are living for longer and with more advanced needs. This is why the campaign to improve the quality and capacity of the hospice is so important.

At HARIBO, we are proud to have been a long-standing partner with Martin House and to be able to take on the role of headline sponsor for this campaign will allow to continue with our shared purpose of creating moments of childlike happiness and memorable moments. As a part of this sponsorship, our team has been involved in a number of events since the start of the campaign.

In May, some of our most daring team members made their way down to the Xscape in Castleford to whizz along a staggering 240-metre-long zip line. At the very least, we had to honour the bravery of those that completed The BIG ZIP with a picture showing their relief at the finish line!

Then came the takeover of Leeds Train Station, which saw Team HARIBO join other volunteers to take donations from travellers. To add a dose of joy to the event, the team came with treats to hand out and our iconic Goldbear even took a tour of the station. Of course, Goldbear and his friend Marti Bear couldn’t help but take the spotlight!

Jon Hughes, Managing Director at HARIBO UK & Ireland, said: “It’s certainly been a busy Martin House calendar this year and we are delighted to have been headline sponsor of THE BUILD. All funds raised make such a difference to the quality of care that Martin House can provide for children that need it most, which is why we are always so keen to get involved.”

Rosie Mellor-Silvester, Head of Mass Relationships at Martin House
, said: “THE BUILD is an ambitious campaign reflecting the necessary changes needed to modernise our hospice to meet the changing needs of the children that we care for. A huge thank you to HARIBO for being such an important partner and getting the team involved in all our events and fundraisers throughout the year.”

Martin House knows how to add the ‘fun’ in fundraiser and Team HARIBO are always excited to get involved in their fundraisers throughout the year. Altogether our support has helped to generate over £450,000 for THE BUILD within the first three month of the campaign. We can’t wait to be involved in future fundraisers to support the ongoing work they do in the community!
