HARIBO UK Celebrates Yorkshire Heritage with Pontefract Liquorice Festival!

We are delighted to announce that we are the head sponsor of this year’s Pontefract Liquorice Festival. Our iconic Goldbear will be there as well as an exciting stall to showcase sweet delights including the iconic Pontefract Cakes.

The much beloved Pontefract Liquorice Festival is back for 2024, only this time we are taking over as head sponsor! From 10:00am on the 14th of July, you can immerse yourself in the enchanting atmosphere and satisfy your sweet tooth with a whole range of liquorice and sweet treat stalls. There will also be a host of different performances and activities for the whole family, bringing life to the streets of Pontefract!

Adding a dose of childlike happiness to the event will be the Liquorice Parade - a whimsical parade led by our beloved Goldbear, and featuring a cast of vibrant costumes, inspired by some of the nation’s other favourite treats, as well as some more liquorice classics. In addition to the usual line-up of exciting market stalls that will be set up throughout the town, we will also be there with some of the nation’s favourites sweets to choose from, along with some limited-edition merchandise from our HARIBO pop up shop!

Jon Hughes, Managing Director HARIBO UK and Ireland, said: “We’re delighted to be sponsoring such a highly anticipated event for the community here in Pontefract. HARIBO is proud to have such a deep-rooted Yorkshire identity and this festival champions the historic sweet-making tradition of the region.”

Cllr Michelle Collins, Wakefield Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, and Sport said: “We can’t wait for the return of Pontefract Liquorice Festival next month and we’re delighted that HARIBO are on board as our head sponsor.

“There’s lots of fun planned for the festival as we celebrate Pontefract’s unique association with liquorice, including the return of the much-loved parade.

“It’s a really great day out for all the family to enjoy as part of the Our Year – Wakefield District 2024 celebration of our culture and heritage.”

We hope you can join us for what is sure to be an exciting and fun filled day celebrating the rich tradition and heritage of liquorice products, that we are proud to continue to this day. More information on other activities planned for the day and parking can be found through the below link:
