A VISIT FIT FOR A PRINCE

HARIBO, the family owned business that is dedicated to producing treats to bring moments of happiness, is delighted to be welcoming Prince Harry to its Castleford based factory on Friday 7th July.

Marking the final stage of a two-day visit to the Leeds City Region, His Royal Highness will take a tour of HARIBO’s new state-of-the art facility, which is now fully operational following a £92m investment.

Enjoying a rare tour of the facility, Prince Harry will see how the brand’s much-loved treats are made and will also meet members of the 180-strong team, its newest recruits as well as individuals who have dedicated their careers to HARIBO for over 27 years.

Herwig Vennekens, Managing Director of HARIBO UK comments: “We are very proud to be welcoming Prince Harry to HARIBO and to be showcasing our new facility here in West Yorkshire. We have a great deal to share and our teams are very excited to have been given the opportunity to meet with His Royal Highness.

“HARIBO has a long and proud history in the UK; for 44 years we have been creating treats that have become firm family favourites. We’re looking forward to showcasing these and to sharing the joy that HARIBO brings to people around the world.”

HARIBO, a family-owned business with a 100 year history of making much-loved sweets, will demonstrate how the experience and expertise of its UK team is leading the market, whilst also enhancing the regions rich heritage in confectionery production. To this day HARIBO, which first entered the UK market in 1972, still produces Pontefract Cakes, the liquorice treat that was originally created by Dunhills of Pontefract more than 250 years ago.

Prince Harry follows in the footsteps of Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, who visited HARIBO’s Pontefract based factory in 2010. Just five minutes from the new facility, HARIBO’s Pontefract factory employs more than 540 team members to make HARIBO one of the leading employers within the local area.
