Happiness and responsibility go hand in hand

For over 100 years, we have been bringing little moments of childlike happiness with our products, such as our famous Goldbears. What began as a simple idea now delights people all over the world.

As an independent, family-run business, we take responsibility for the people around the world who have become HARIBO fans, for our employees, and for the communities in which we operate. We take a long-term view and make decisions with future generations in mind.

Quality for generations

Ever since our foundation, the guiding principle ‘Quality above all’ has shaped everything we do. This phrase was displayed on the wall in our very first production facility and today, you can see it in our factories worldwide.

Everyday, millions of fruit gums, liquorice and marshmallow products leave our factories. Our aim is to produce sweets with the quality and safety people can rely on. Clear standards, consistent processes and internationally recognised certifications form the basis for this. Crucial to this is the commitment of our employees, who contribute every day to meeting our quality standards.

In good company

At our sites, we are committed to strong communities, long-term partnerships and making a positive impact locally.

We create jobs, strengthen local economies and support initiatives that contribute to positive social impacts. At our sites, we therefore support local institutions, clubs and events, as well as charitable organisations and social projects.

Here are two examples: At our head office in Grafschaft, a HARIBO forest is being created in the Ahr Valley on a site covering over two hectares for future generations, which will grow over the years. Together with local schools, we are planting 10,000 trees. In West Yorkshire (UK), we have been supporting the ‘Songs & Smiles’ programme in partnership with ‘The Together Project’ since 2025. The initiative brings people of different generations together and helps to overcome loneliness and social isolation.

Our shareholders’ foundations are also actively involved: the Dr Hans Riegel Foundation promotes education and the development of young talent. The Paul Riegel Foundation supports projects in the fields of care for the elderly and people with disabilities, medicine, child and youth welfare, as well as art and culture.

Reducing emissions in production and logistics

We are constantly working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout our value chain. To this end, we are increasing our use of renewable energy, generating our own solar power at our sites and optimising our logistics. In 2025, around 84% of the electricity used in production was matched with renewable electricity through the purchase of corresponding guarantees of origin. At the Grafschaft site, rooftop photovoltaic systems and an open-space installation cover around 25 per cent of electricity requirements. In Nemesvámos (Hungary), a solar power plant supplies around 30 per cent of the local electricity requirements.

We also rely on lower-emission solutions in our logistics operations. Shuttle services between our German production sites and our central warehouse are operated using BioCNG vehicles. BioCNG is a renewable fuel made from biomethane produced from organic raw materials and residues. Its use can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions compared with fossil natural gas.

Furthermore, we are increasingly shifting longer transport routes to rail. As a result, in 2025 we were able to reduce emissions from the transport of finished products by around 20 per cent compared with the previous year.
